Next Thursday, October 14th the PTA will be sponsoring "pastries for parents" for kindergarten parents at 7AM. Come and join the fun:)

Next Week

Hi Parents,

I will be absent on Monday, Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday next week. I have to have a minor procedure done on my leg. Please email my wonderful assistant Mrs. Greene if you have any questions or concerns after Friday afternoon (I will be available via email through Friday afternoon). Spirit Night!

These past two weeks Mrs. Law has come and done a whole group gifted lesson on our five senses. She read the book Look Again and we also talked about different ways to observe things- eyes, magnifying glasses, and a microscope. We were able to use our smartboard to view a leaf magnified by a microscope. We also used "The Wheel of Scientifist Investigation and Reasoning" to discuss different experiment ideas, new ideas for research and other ideas to stretch our minds and thinking.

Daily Five

We will soon have guided reading groups and during that time students work on various independent literacy activities. Above students are working on word work (spelling words on teh smartboard), work on writing, and listening to reading

A Visit From Deputy Miller

Today we had a visit from our DARE office Deputy Miller. He came to talk to our morning class about Halloween safety. Tomorrow he will come talk to our afternoon class.

Happy Fall! Don't forget we have a half day this Wednesday, October 6, 2010.
Morning kindergarten will be from 8-10 and afternoon kindergarten 10-12.

Family Fun Night at JBD!

Family Fun Night - FREE Movie - OCT 1
Our FREE family movie night will be on Friday, October 1 in the JBD Cafeteria at 6:30 pm. We will be showing the Disney movie UP. Snacks will be available for purchase.

We Heart Bookflix!

I am in the process of finishing up the final draft of the grant to renew our school's Bookflix subscription which is due in the beginning of October. I would love to include some quotes from parents on how much you love using it at home with your child. Please email me your quotes and I will include them in the grant. Our subscription to Bookflix will expire the end of November if the grant is not awarded. A subscription to Bookflix is over 1,000 dollars (I don't think we have any other extra money in our school to buy a subscription) Please keep your fingers crossed that the grant is awarded!
