Snow Day Make-Up Schedule Revised

After carefully considering feedback from the community, Virginia Beach City Public Schools has revised its plans to make up instructional time lost due to the school closure for snow on February 10.

April 8 will now be an instructional day for students. The day was originally scheduled as a staff day with schools closed for students. As a result of the change, the school division no longer plans to temporarily add 20 minutes to the school day as previously announced.

Communications to parents will include an AlertNow message to be sent this evening to all households of children enrolled in Virginia Beach schools. In addition, an updated calendar is posted on the school division website, vbschools.com.

IPad Apps

We love using the IPads in our class and I wanted to let all the parents know which Apps we were using so you can use them at home if you would like. I have used all of these apps in class and also at home with my own kindergartener (and also my 2 year old). Above the apps are- math magic, math bingo, and word magic. The anaologies for kids and sentence builder are apps we use for higher level thinking.

Eye on the Alphabet Project

The optional "eye on the alphabet" project is due during the week of March 14th. All projects will be displayed in the hallway for everyone to view. Thanks!

Pajama Day!

Today we had pajama day and a half day. Since it was a half day, the whole school had a "reading" day and everyone wore jammies. These are pictures of our class reading with our second grade book buddies.

Thank you so much for all the Valentine's donations! We really appreciate all the donations and support. Thank you very much! Thank you also for taking the time to clip coupons. Below is a copy of an awesome receipt from a recent shopping trip at Harris Teeter. The picture is a bit fuzzy, but the balance due was 59.56 and the coupon amount that was saved was 57.66! The family saved almost exactly 50 percent! I am so excited. Thank you for all your support!
